Learning About Different Computer Peripherals
When it comes to computer hardware knowledge, an important aspect is to know about everything related to computer. Computer peripherals have an important role of supporting the computer. Not a single computer can survive without any peripherals so you do need to know or understand how they work or you won't be using your computer efficiently. Basically everything that connects to your motherboard is known as a peripheral and some pieces may be more delicate than others but we'll look at it generally so you can get good idea of what peripherals really are. Just so you know, this is some sort of the easiest things to learn.
Without enumerating all the computer peripherals you basically have primary peripherals such as a mouse and a keyboard. These are essential in order for you to be able to use your computer. Secondary peripherals such as computer printers, scanners, MP3 players and digital cameras are not essential for a computer but can be used conveniently with your computer if you want to. The list of peripherals is much longer but all you have to know is most of them are not essential to computer. In fact many of them are used for personal entertainment.
In today's modern society all computer peripherals have usually two different connections which are USB and FireWire connections. For more specific computer parts you will find more specific ports which is the case for a sample if you are using a camcorder. Although you have access to FireWire or USB you can still use the DV option which some users may prefer. Mouse and keyboard PS/2 ports still exist and the reason why is because there's no need for you to install the software before using these. If you had to install the software before using it it would be much harder since you don't even have a mouse to move the cursor.
In the past computer peripherals were mostly using parallel port technology but these days are long gone. The reason why USB has become so popular is because it's faster and the plug-and-play technology. Basically what happens is all you have to do is plug the peripheral to the computer and automatically computer should detect it and arrange the conflagration for you so that you can use it within minutes. Although some may still ask that you install the software, once your object is plugged it should work right away. So with that in mind is parallel really over? The answer is no because if you look behind you computer you will see that you have one parallel port left and that's your monitor. This is the only hardware that cannot require a software installed previously because you wouldn't see anything if you didn't have a monitor. Although computer peripherals have evolved parallel port will still be used for monitors. So if you buy a computer that does not offer the parallel port for your monitor it means you only have a S-video port and the monitor you'll have to buy will be much more expensive. Basically the process for installing new computer peripherals through USB or FireWire has become pretty much standard. This means you need to install the software first and then you will be prompt to plug the device so you can start using it right away. Knowing that it has become so easy to install any computer devices shouldn't mean that we don't have to understand how to make the maximum use of our new devices.
